Tech Trek 2006

Thursday, November 2, 2006, twelve students and two teachers traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana for the 11th annual Indiana State Tech Trek competitions.  Teams from twenty-two schools (500+ students) traveled to Indiana State University for the day to compete in fifteen technology-based events.  Two of the three Brown County High School teams competing this year placed first in their events.  The web design event "Web Wizard" was added to the Tech Trek competitions four years ago and our Brown County High School web teams have won this event four years in a row.  This years web team was Madeleine Bachelier, Jake Collins, Kara Edens Magner, and David Miller led by Mr. Tom Baker.

"Four in a row!  I am very proud of my students and their accomplishments at Indiana State."  --- Mr. "Baker"

The Industrial Technology teams led by Mr. Nick Halter competed in two events "Battle the Elements" and "Junk Yard Genius".  The "Battle the Elements" team, Robbie Dailey, Kenny Patrick, Corey Spears, and Caleb Bourland won a first place award.  The team had to construct a building that would be able to withstand a simulated tsunami.  The "Junk Yard Genius" team Marty Douglas, Charles Leggins,  Joe Sichting, and Austin Biggerstaff  had to construct an object to meet certain requirements and perform a task of destruction utilizing nothing but trash and junk.

"I am proud of my students.  It was a great learning experience and both my teams did an excellent job."  --- Mr. "Halter"
