A
message to students . . .
. . . especially Freshmen
Dear
student:
If
you are planning a career in the arts, please let us know. It is
important that you plan your schedule carefully so that you are able to
take all the art classes you will need.
2D
Art is a required course and should be taken early in your high school
career. It is an introduction to many of the ideas, words, and
techniques you will learn in studio classes. We also urge you to
take Art History, a course that teaches you about the ideas and artists
who have made art from prehistoric times to our own century.
Talk
to us, and talk to your guidance counselor. Plan your courses
carefully, and we can help you leave high school with the information
you need to do well in college and career.
Responsibilities,
and . . .
. . . consequences
Art
classes take place in rooms very different from other classrooms. We
sit at work tables and often need to get supplies. The atmosphere is
more like a workshop. Therefore the need for responsible, helpful
behavior is very important for your successful participation in any art
course.
