We use a slab roller to roll our clay, but you could also use rolling pins or
the "reverse pizza" method. When using the roller be sure to
knead the clay, spank it to a thinner shape of your choice, roll it and remove
it promptly so that it doesn't stick to the roller bed. If the bed is wet
use newspaper and remove from paper very promptly to avoid the clay sticking to
the roller bed.
 Slabs
can be used for unlimited purposes. We will make three plates, using slump
and hump molds. The photo at left shows the use of a hump mold with a
carved decoration.
