• the methods and materials of sculpture

Unit 2:  Wire Construction

Unit Objectives:  Students will learn 

• to construct with wire

• about the work of Alexander Calder

Unit 3:  Sheet Metal Construction

Unit Objectives:  Students will learn to 

• cut and construct simple sculptures from aluminum

• make mobiles or stabiles, inspired by Calder

Unit 4:  Plaster Carving

Unit Objectives:

 Students will learn to mix, carve, and decorate plaster.

Unit 5:  Metamorphosis

Unit Objectives:  Students will learn to 

• model with clay

• create five small sculptures showing a subtle progress from one form to the next

Unit 6:  Wood Relief 

Unit Objectives:  Students will learn  

• about Louise Nevelson

• to cut and sand wood

• to construct with wood

• to decorate wood

Unit 7:  Final Exam Project 

Unit Objectives:  Students will learn to 

• create their own sculpture in their choice of materials (they must use at least two different materials)
