Family

My relatives often have dinner together.  
Most Japanese relatives have dinner together on special days (new years day, when we hold a mass for the dead, for example).  My relatives are very close.

I like watching movies.  In Japan, 
many movies are broadcast on TV.  
We can rent many kinds of movie videos.

This is a picture on my desk.  I like listening
to music.  I also like to collect "purikura",
mini picture seals.  Most girls in high school
collect many, many purikura.

I’m Terra Hill and I’m playing my guitar. 
I like music and can play guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, violin, flute, clarinet, piano, and drums.

私はテラ・ヒルです。ギターを弾いているところです。音楽が好きでギターやバス・ギター、トランペット、ヴァイオリン、フルート、クラリネット、ピアノ、ドラムを演奏することができます。

camera, but I surprised him.

This is my mom cooking the Thanksgiving turkey.  [Thanksgiving is a family feast day when we honor our ancestors – the pilgrims from Europe and the native American Indians who shared a feast a long time ago.]

こちらは感謝祭の七面鳥を料理している私の母です。（感謝祭とは、ずっと昔、食べ物を分かち合った私たちの祖先、つまりヨーロッパから移住してきたピルグリムとアメリカ先住インディアンたちを誇りに思い、家族でごちそうを囲む日なのです。）

Here are the Thanksgiving deserts: chocolate 
chip ice cream pie, peanut butter pie with 
Oreo topping, pumpkin pie, which is a 
Thanksgiving tradition, peach cobbler ice 
cream pie, and chocolate cupcakes with 
cookies n’cream icing.

こちらは感謝祭のデザートです。チョコレートチップ・アイスクリームパイ、オレオをトッピングしたピーナツバターパイ、感謝祭の伝統的デザートであるカボチャのパイ、モモのコブラーアイスクリームパイ、クッキー＆クリームがかかったチョコレートカップケーキです。

Terra graduated from Brown County High School in December 2001.  She plans to go to college.

ネイサンはハロウィーンでなんだかヘンな怖い生き物の格好をしました。

私の友人らと私は教会の駐車場で連れだっていました。２００１年１２月２０日、私たちが住む町は私たちがそこでたむろしないようにするための条例を可決しようとしています。かれらは町で私たちがスケートボードに乗ったり、ローラースケートをしたり、スクーター（片足を乗せてもう片方の足で地をけって走る乗り物）で走り回ったりさせたくないのです。

The ordinance did not pass.

シルバーメイプルツリーの前に座っているジャッキーです。この写真を撮った２，３日後にこの木は切られ、私たちは悲しみを感じ、また腹が立ちました。
