Select subject matter, symbols, and ideas to communicate personal statements and describe the origin of symbols and why they are of value in artworks.

 

2D Design State Standards

Line 6: Activity A.  Students will combine part or all of their drawings to make a new composition.

Color 3: Activity A.  Students will make three small paintings (6 x 6”), using their drawings for subject matter.  Each painting will use a different color harmony (triadic, split complement, and analogous). 

Figure 3: Activity D.  Student will practice drawing and painting a portrait.

Figure 4: Activity B.  Students will watch a demonstration of how to make and print a relief print. Students will use a digital photograph of themselves to create a strong black and white, high contrast, image, which can be transferred to a 4 x 6" plate. 

 

Ceramics 1 State Standards

Ceramics 1: Activity A. Draw designs for your initials and designs for the three ends of the stamps.
