Attendance Policy

Excused Absence from Practice:

Excused Absence- An excused absence is defined as an absence from practice on a day the student/athlete is absent from school due to funeral, sickness, or doctor’s appointment.  The attendance will be checked on a daily basis.  If the student/athlete receives an excused absence they will need to complete one “Talon” when they get back to practice in order to make up for the workout they have missed. The following paragraph describes a “Talon”.  If a student has missed multiple excused days, they will only be required to complete one “Talon”.

Talon- A “Talon” is a universal workout for every student-athlete who has missed a practice with an excused absence.  On the day that the student-athlete returns to practice they will need to complete this workout for the time they missed.  Being assigned a “Talon” is not a punishment; it is simply a universal workout to make-up for the missed practice.  It would be unfair to the student-athletes that were at practice if those who missed did not make up their workout. Making up the workout can be compared to the student making up missed school work when they are absent.  Explanation of a “Talon” is as follows:

“Talon”= 10 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 9 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 8 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 7 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 6 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 5 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 4 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 3 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 2 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 1 push up then 100 meter sprint.

Unexcused Absence from Practice:

Unexcused Absence- An unexcused absence is defined as an absence from practice on a day that the student was in attendance at school.  An unexcused absence from school will be considered an unexcused absence from practice. The attendance will be checked on a daily basis.  If the student-athlete was at school and misses practice without consulting with a coach, the student-athlete’s absence will be unexcused.  The student-athlete must consult a coach prior to missing a practice, and it will be the coach’s decision as to whether are not the absence will be excused or unexcused.  On the first unexcused absence the student/athlete will be required to complete a “Double Talon” upon returning to practice.  On the second unexcused absence, the student/athlete will receive another “Talon”.  On the third unexcused absence the student/athlete will be dismissed from the team.

Note:  Leaving practice early without consulting a coach or failing to complete the entire assigned workout (Including weight room) will be considered an unexcused absence.

“Double Talon”=  20 push ups then 100 meters sprint, 19 push ups then 100 meters sprint, 18 push ups then 100 meters sprint, 17 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 16 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 15 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 14 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 13 pushups then 100 meter sprint, 12 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 11 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 10 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 9 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 8 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 7 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 6 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 5 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 4 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 3 push ups then 100 meter spring, 2 push ups then 100 meter sprint, 1 push up then 100 meter sprint.
