Western Indiana Conference

Boys: Brown County 37, West Vigo 64, Edgewood 65, Northview 97, Owen Valley 116, South Vermillion 155, Sullivan 173

The Eagles had a very good day considering the conditions. The rain came in about thirty minutes before the girls race. After the girls ran the three loop course in the first race the boys had to deal with some muddy sections. I do not think that the course made any difference in the results. The eagles dominated the conference with placing four in the top ten and six in the top thirteen. The four that took all conference honors were Dylan Allen 3rd, Alden Westcott 5th, Cody Whipker 8th & Christian Ely 10th. It was nice to see Christian make the all conference team for the first time in his career. He lead the pack of three throughout the race. Cody Whipker also ran a great race and outkicked another runner to place eighth in the meet. Nick Harding 11th and Connor Guingrich 13th both played important rolls in today's win. Nick just missed out of all conference honors with that eleventh place finish was the teams fifth runner. Connor was just got out kicked at the end of the race. Zack Roush 23rd rounded out the team with a good individual performance. He beat the fourth runner for West Vigo and fifth runner for Edgewood. He bumped the runners back which added points to West Vigo's and Edgewood's overall score. This is the sixth conference championship for the cross team.

Girls: Edgewood 35, Northview 56, Brown County 78, West Vigo 85, Sullivan 106, South Vermillion 111

The girls also had a great performance on the wet course. Sarah Lewis 3rd and Anna Lutes 5th paced the eagles with their all conference finishes. Sarah was running with the top two girls for the first two laps of the race and then fell off the pace. She ran smart and did a great job for the eagles. Anna (CR) ran great on a course that usually would not fit her running style. She was able to handle the hills and moved up from eleventh place to fifth place over the last mile of the course. Other finisher's for the eagles was Chrissi Hodapp 22nd, Ellen Mills 26th, Alice Merryman 29th, Sadie Freeman 38th, & Grace Crum 39th. Ellen Mills did a great job for us moving up from her regular fifth to sixth runner on the team to our fourth runner in today's meet. Overall, I am happy with today's race. The eagles will have to work harder next summer if they want to move up the conference ladder.

Culver Inv.

Girls: 22nd out of    , with 548 Pts

The girls ran their best race of the year. This was the first race since the season began that we had our top seven girls run in same the race. Leading the eagles was Sarah Lewis who just missed out of placing in the top twenty-five by two places. Another runner that had great day was Anna Lutes. She just missing out of making it into the twenty-two minute range by a few seconds. The biggest pr of the day belonged to Ellen Mills, with almost a two minute pr. The eagles are now getting ready to compete in WIC championships this weekend.

Boys: 10th out of 38 teams, 262 Pts

The boys ran a pretty good meet considering we were running with an injured runner and without the use of the our regular number three runner. Runner's that had a great day was Alden Westcott who placed 15th in the race and Nick Harding who set his all time pr by 14 sec. Two others, Zack Roush & Connor Guingrich, also set their all-time bests. The eagles are looking to get everyone healthy and ready for the WIC Championships this weekend.

South Knox Inv.

Girls: 11th out of 21, with 281 points

The girls ran ok today. The girls were running without Grace and Sadie and Chrissi fell out of the race. So we only had five girls finish the race. Pacing the eagles was Sarah Lewis in 19th spot. Other finishers were Anna Lutes in 47th, Alice Merryman in 52nd, Ellen Mills 89, & Tish Robbins in 115. The girls need to be more consistent and have everyone race and finish a meet.

Boys: 3rd out of 21, with 145 Points

The boys ran just ok today. We have a long way to go and short time to get there. We figured that the course was around thirty to forty seconds slow. If that id the case then we ran an average race. Pacing the eagles was Alden Westcott in 7th place and freshman Cody Whipker had a great race coming in 25th. Christian Ely had a good first 4-K but gave up to many spots over the last K. Other finishers include: Nick Harding 40th, Connor Guingrich 51st, Zack Roush 71st, & Ben Houseman 78th. Looks for the eagles to improve at our next meet at Culver.

The girls ran pretty good today. The rain slowed down the course today but overall we ran well.

The boys lost Dylan Allen during the race do to injury but were still able to finish in pretty standings overall.

19th Artesian Classic

The girls ran much better this week. All of them had there career best run. Leading the eagles, after Sarah Lewis fell out of the race, was Anna Lutes 39th (23:15). Other eagles were Chrissi Hopdapp 41st (23:25), Alice Merryman 44th (23:34), Sadie Freeman 67th (25:43), Ellen Mills 73rd (26:57) & Tish Robbins 77th (31:53). The girls still need to improve but this was a great weekend with everyone running their best at the same meet.

Boys: Brown County 76, Heritage Christian 100, Silver Creek 139, Triton Central 150, Bloomfield 162, Indian Creek 175, Eastern Greene, Oldenburg Acd. 197, Crawford Co. 206, Providence 220, Eminence 258, Switzerland Co. 269, Monrovia 322, Tri-West 324, & Cloverdale 360.

The boys team backed up their win last year and defended their championship of the Class A race at Martinsville. All of the eagle runners had carrer bests except for one runner. Leading the eagles was Dylan Allen 1st (16:14). He ran a great race and took command of the race at the 3K mark. Dylan moved up the all-time best list and currently ranks 7th. Alden Westcott placed 5th (16:52) for the eagles. He moved to 6th on the sophmore all-time best list and is currently 20th on the overall all-time best list. Other finishers for the varsity race were: Christian Ely 16th (17:35), Cody Whipker 22nd (17:45) {9th on all-time freshman list), Nick Harding 32nd (18:12), Connor Guingrich 34th (18:14), & Ben Housemen 61st (19:12). After doing some calculations the 2010 would have the 2009 team is this years race. Now we just have to keep improving. Next week Zack Roush will be moving into the varsity race because he beat out Ben for the 7th man position.
